Advocacy and Elections top 62nd Annual Conference Agenda

RICHMOND, Va. — The upcoming 62nd Annual Conference and Business Meeting of the Virginia National Guard Association, Inc. and the conclusion of contentious General Assembly sessions will dominate the proceedings when the VNGA board of directors meets July 30, 2022, in Richmond, Virginia.

Officers and Warrant Officers from across the “Commonwealth’s Guardian” will caucus to identify their top legislative, policy or equipping needs. They will also review the National legislative resolutions proposed by the other 53 states, commonwealths, territories and the district that Virginia’s delegation will consider during the upcoming 144th General Conference and Exhibition of the National Guard held Aug. 26-29, 2022, in Columbus, Ohio.

And they will consider nominations for the 2022-2023 VNGA Board of Directors, many of whom will be vacating their positions at the conclusion of the conference. Nominations are currently being accepted for the President, Vice President – Army National Guard, Vice President – Air National Guard, Treasurer, Secretary, Director of Membership, Director of Events, Director of the Company-Grade Officer Caucus, the Director of the Warrant Officer Caucus and the Director of the Retiree Caucus.

Nominations, including self-nominations, are accepted through July 28, 2022. Nominations may be made here.

Deliberations regarding the military retirement tax exemption, reduced costs to enter state parks, increasing state tax exemption will draw the board’s attention. In addition to the usual advocacy cycle and elections, the business meeting will also present awards to deserving members of our association.
